"Climbing That Faith Mountain" Karen Tews
As we climb the mountain of faith it is an uphill battle. But remember it’s uphill, we are not staying at the bottom … we are going up.
Several years ago I was in church and I went up for prayer and God gave me a vision of myself. I saw myself climbing out of the pit.
I was born again, but I hadn’t made Him Lord of my life. I guess I didn’t understand, until I went through a hard time in my life that I couldn’t fix. I was at my bottom; I surrendered to Him for whatever He wanted to do in my life. At that time I started climbing up out of the pit of despair and started my journey of faith in Him, not in what I could do to fix it or for what someone else could do for me.
I started realizing some sins I was committing, they were small things but they were still sins. I’m thankful for the Holy Spirit who reveals these things; it’s the beginning of Jesus setting us free. That was and it is my quest… to be free.
John 8:36 so if the Son sets you free you will be free indeed
Then I saw myself on a vehicle on the train tracks that you manned yourself, working very hard, I was on it by myself.
Remember, I wanted to be free and it took some work. I began reading the word watching Christian Programs, going to church, be willing to do some soul searching. Learning to look at what I was doing instead of blaming others for the mess I was in, my faith was increasing. I was learning scriptures and meditating on them. We all go through trials and I’ve gone through my share. One of the scriptures the Lord had me meditate on was in Isaiah.
Isaiah 43: 1-2 But now, this is what the Lord says-he who created you, Jacob, he who formed you, Israel: “Do not fear, for I have redeemed you; I have summoned you by name; you are mine. When you pass through the waters, I will be with you; and when you pass through the rivers, they will not sweep over you. When you walk through the fire, you will not be burned; the flames will not set you ablaze. For I am the Lord your God, the Lord your God, the Holy One of Israel
That scripture has kept me on the path of faith and when I was afraid he gave me another scripture in Joshua. Joshua 1:9 Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go.”
Then I was catapulted up the mountain and I grabbed onto a rope. The rope brought me to the top of the mountain. When I reached the top there was an explosion. I was about to go through another trial. Soon after that my husband passed away, a couple months later I lost my job and a few months after that my mother passed away. Too much for me to handle, I had to hang on and to trust Him to take me up and he has and is doing this in my life. I believe the explosion is the glory; the glory belongs to the Lord for all that he has done for us for God is the Glory!
Faith is a lifetime of growing It is opposite of Fear. Faith takes steps of obedience to what the Lord is telling you to do and trusting Him that he will give you the ability to do it, after all it is Him working through you that you are able to accomplish it. Keep going…He will do it!
